14 Arpents is named after the road that borders the dairy at Fromagerie Médard, hailing from a time when acres (or arpents) of farmland were divided to settlers in the Sagueny-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
Similar to the well-known French cheese Munster, 14 Arpents is made in square molds, featuring a pale orange rind typical of brine-washed cheeses. Its aroma is rich in barny notes while the taste is milder, offering hints of hazelnut and fresh buttermilk with a tangy lactic finish.
When young, its rind is a uniform, dusky orange that grows darker, spottier and more supple as it matures.
